Well here we are again at the beginning of a new year. I hope you all enjoyed your seasonal festivities and are looking forward, when this damp and dreary weather abates, to getting out in the garden and greenhouses preparing for beautiful displays and bumper crops.
I believe we have had an extremely good year at the club with successful events, my reasoning behind this is an increased membership and better participation at all levels. Therefore we at committee have decided that the current fees remain the same for the foreseeable future, and we are including the group of the local horticultural club members to be able to visit meetings and events at our members rate.
Financially under the guidance of John Usher we are maintaining a stable balance and therefore we will be subsidising some of the events for club members.
One of these will be our 2020 Christmas party where we are having outside caterers for the buffet meal, also the main coach outings will be charged as though we have a minimum number of 30 even if we don’t sell all the seats.
The trips so far are a guided tour of Belmont House and Garden at Faversham, followed by a visit to Macknades Fine Foods Hall. At the moment details for lunch are not finalised. If you remember we had to cancel our trip to Dungeness two years ago but that is back on the agenda and details will follow as soon as they are available. Also a trip to the Lavender Farm at Eynsford using our own cars is being researched for us by John Walsham, there is basically a short window when the lavender fields are at their best so we will monitor it carefully for maximum impact on our visit.
We have reintroduced the tea rota with two members per event volunteering to host the tea table. It has worked quite well but we have a couple of vacancies that need to be filled, John Usher is processing this. I hope you all enjoy what we are doing this year and hope to see your continued support on our events during 2020
